My name is AnnaBelle. I am a senior at Creekview High School. I play varsity softball there as well. I would like to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education. My senior project goes along with this degree.

About My Senior Project

Why did you choose this career path?

I chose this path because I really like helping and teaching kids. I would like to learn about what it means to be a teacher.

What do you plan to do for your Senior Career Capstone?

The plan is to come up with about a week’s worth of lesson plans for the students that comply with the current curriculum. I will be teaching one lessons from those lesson plans; the subject could vary between reading, science, or even social studies. I will have a video of myself teaching the lesson. The lesson plans will be in the time frame of the elementary school (7:45 am – 2:30 pm). I will talk about why I chose that exact activity and couple of other options that I could have chosen. When I present, I will read the lesson plan that I have prepared and taught to the class.

How is this Capstone a “Learning Stretch”?

This is a big stretch for me because I have only taught a couple of kids at once during the summer. It is also a learning stretch because I have no idea what it takes to be a teacher; I don’t know exactly what a lesson plan is supposed to look like. This will show me if this is actually a career I would actually like to pursue in the future.

About My Facilitator/Mentor

Who have you chosen as your Capstone Facilitator?

I have chosen Ms. Jordan Cleghorn to be my facilitator. She teaches at the Ball Ground STEM Academy. She is also a coach on the Creekview Softball team. She went to Stetson University in Deland, Florida. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an ESOL endorsement. Before becoming a teacher at Ballground, she was teaching in Volusia, Florida for two years. Shortly after that, she became a long term substitute at Ballground for two years. For the past two years, she has been an official teacher at Ballground for two extra years.

How is my facilitator going to help me with my Capstone?

Jordan can help me with this project because she is an expert on working with kids and making lesson plans. She has already given me some ideas for assignments and some alternate assignments.
